Celebrate Pi Day at the Math Festival!

Thursday, March 14: 5 - 7 PM

5 - 5:30 PM: Optional FREE dinner in the lunchroom (to-go boxes provided for those celebrating Ramadan)

5:30 - 7 PM: Visit fun math stations in the gym


Spend an evening doing puzzles, games, and learn some math too! Learn through play together with your children and see first-hand how to support them in their math studies. Volunteers are needed to help bake pies, with set up and clean up, and to help run the games. Come home with some fun freebies.

Middle School Lock IN

Middle School Lock-In


Friday, March 1 from 6 - 8 PM

Location: Gym, enter from Blacktop


Middle Schoolers will be "locked in" at school for a fun night of silent dancing, movie watching, and other fun activities. They will enjoy pizza, candy, snacks, and soda with their classmates!


TICKETS: pay what you wish up to $15; only PAS students in grades 6 - 8 are invited. Advance sales only. Permission Slip due by Friday, February 23.

Students are not permitted to walk home alone.


Parent volunteers are needed to help with set up, clean up, and to donate supplies such as snacks, treats, and beverages. Donations can be dropped off at the main office no later than February 23.

School Advisory Council Meeting


Monday, March 4 at 3:45 P.M.

Location: PAS Library; use Locust St. entrance after 3:45 P.M.

School Advisory Council (SAC) meets once a month and is a forum for discussion and collaboration with the PAS administration on school-based decision making with a focus on student achievement, school improvement, effective teaching, and parent and community engagement, communication, and support. Meetings are open to everyone. To learn more about Penn Alexander’s SAC and review a list of SAC members, please visit our SAC website.
March's meeting will focus on a family engagement topic: building family connections through play days, new family meetings, neighbor meet and greets, etc.

Equity Circle Community Potluck and Parent Workshop with Caroline Hill

Join caregivers and parents from across the school community in sharing a meal and learning important skills for raising children in our cross-racial, multilingual, multiethnic democracy. The workshop will be facilitated by the amazing Caroline Hill (rescheduled from January).


This event is free, and all are welcome! Childcare and pizza for children age 5+ will be provided by Ms. Barnes. The potluck is organized by The Equity Circle, and the workshop is funded by the HSA and a grant from the Neubauer Family Foundation.


When you RSVP, please give an idea of what you'll be bringing, but pre-registration and bringing a dish are not required.

Ice Skating Party

Come to the Family Ice Skating Party!


Saturday, March 16 (2 sessions)

Session 1: Arrive at 2:10 P.M., ice skating time 2:40-4:00 P.M.

Session 2: Arrive at 4:00 P.M., ice skating time 4:30-5:50 P.M.


The HSA of Penn Alexander has rented out the Penn Class of 1923 Ice Rink at 3130 Walnut Street for a family ice skating party.


Volunteers are needed to help at the event with set up, ticket sales, concessions, and clean up. All volunteers receive 2 FREE tickets! You can also help by donating much-needed supplies such as individual bags of snacks or treats, water bottles, hot cups, napkins, and cans of whipped cream by March 12.


Tickets: $10 in advance; $12 at the door, if space is available

All students need adult supervision, and tickets are required for ALL entry. Admission covers skating, skate rental, and three tickets good for one snack or beverage each. Early-bird Ticket deadline: March 14

Approximately 25% of online sales and 50% of in person sales will be donated back to Penn Alexander. Volunteers needed March 22 - April 5. All volunteers can pick a book for FREE (up to $5 value)!

Support STEAM education at Penn Alexander School by running, volunteering your time, or becoming a sponsor for the culminating event of the year. Get a healthy start to your summer, and register now!

  • Early bird pricing through April 13: Adults: $30; students: $20. All classes with at least 50% participation will receive a doughnut party!
  • All day-of race volunteers receive a FREE t-shirt (PAS uniform-compliant). NEW THIS YEAR: as an added incentive, 'on-course' 5K volunteers will receive a FREE snack bag when they check in to keep them nourished while cheering on runners!
