The HSA needs your help! We have four open executive board positions for the upcoming school year. Please consider running or nominating someone to make sure that the school continues to operate at the same level in the future. More details can be found HERE

Fundraising Chair (2026-27 School Years)

The Fundraising Chair raises money and leads various giving appeals and sponsorship opportunities with the goal of executing existing fundraising activities and implementing new ideas. This position helps create and manage a plan and schedule for fundraising appeals, opportunities, and merchandise (e.g. PAS gear and yearbooks). Other responsibilities include tracking fundraising information and reporting on fundraising activity. This position oversees the fundraising working group and is supported by the school gear manager and sponsorship chairs. Key fundraising efforts: Giving Tuesday, spring musical ad sales, and 5K race sponsorships. Additional tasks related to the capital campaign will also be necessary.

Event and People Coordinator, Lower School (2026-28 School Years)

The People and Events Coordinators make HSA events happen successfully by recruiting and managing volunteers and coordinating details. This position, along with the People and Events Coordinator for the Upper School, helps execute event plans for the Uniform Swap, New Family Meet & Greet, Ice Cream Social, Fall Festival, 5K, Ice Skating Party, Talent Show, etc. The Lower School People and Events Coordinator co-manages the events working group, recruits volunteers to help run and staff events, and posts event details on the HSA website. This position focuses on families and events for grades K-4.

Secretary (2026-28 School Years)

The Secretary is the HSA's communicator and record keeper. This position records votes and attends and keeps notes of general member and executive board meetings. The Secretary creates and sends HSA communications, through Membership Toolkit, social media, and the HSA website. This position manages the communications working group and is supported by the social media moderator, communications manager, and webmaster. Experience with communications, web editing, or an eye for graphic design (or the willingness to learn) would be ideal.

Treasurer (2026-28 School Years)

The Treasurer is the financial steward of our school community. This position ensures that the funds we raise—from ticket sales to school purchases—are managed transparently and put to the best possible use for our students and teachers. The Treasurer manages HSA bank accounts, creates and reports on the yearly HSA budget, creates monthly reports, processes payment requests, and pays appropriate dues, fees, taxes, and bills. This position also manages the finance working group. Experience with finance or accounting (or the willingness to learn) would be ideal.

Terms & Details

Most positions are for a two-year term. No elections will be held if one only person is nominated for each position. Positions can be split between two people. New board members will be voted on / announced at the May 7 HSA meeting, and the term begins July 1.

Board Responsibilities

Board members are asked to:

  • Check and respond to @hsapennalexander.org email a few times a week
  • Attend executive board meetings 1 time a month
  • Attend general HSA board meetings 5 - 6 times a year
  • Plan committee meetings and create / update / help execute project plans
  • Contribute to shared board calendar, documents, and project plans
  • Get clearances
