Message from the Principal

Dear PAS Families,


This week, many in our Penn Alexander community are celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights — a joyous time that honors the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. We wish all who celebrate a bright and meaningful Diwali!

On Thursday, we are looking forward to having Caroline Hill back at PAS  as we continue to strengthen children's growth and learning in an inclusive setting.  Please join us for our Equity Circle Family Workshop with Caroline.  Dinner and childcare provided. RSVP HERE. We will be building on last year's popular workshop on how to handle conflict in challenging times as well as input from the recent community potluck. 


At the same time, we are also hosting our 3rd Annual Dominoes and La Cultura night for students in grades 5-8. We'll see if Dr. Kreidle can match Mrs. Johnson's dominos skills! RSVP HERE.


On Friday we look forward to Staff Breakfast hosted by 7th Grade families. Sign up to bring in something HERE.

  • If you haven't had a chance to learn about our efforts to  renovate the green space of Penn Alexander - vital for students and the surrounding community through several potential state grants. Please join us in advocating for state funding for these projects by signing our joint letter to our state officials.   
  • Please take a few minutes to complete this very short survey with open-ended questions: 👉 Title I Survey. Deadline to submit feedback is November 3.
  • Penn Employees: please donate to the HSA through Penn's Way through November 21, and Penn will match your donation! If you donate through Penn's Way, a Donor Advised Fund, a Family Foundation, or other corporation match program, please use THIS FORM to let the HSA know and have your donation get counted towards our goal.

Finance Committee Help is Needed!

The HSA Treasurer, Cory Walker, manages the finance committee, and help is needed with several tasks. 

  • Auditors: The HSA books need to be audited once a year by a committee of 3 or more non-board members.
  • Bookkeeper: Input transactions into Membership Toolkit, process checks, and reconcile statements.
  • Cashier: Count and record money and make deposits at the bank.
