Dear PAS Families,
Please read this important Call for Support for our families impacted by the freezing of SNAP benefits, funds families no longer have to buy food. PAS families are poised to lose approximately $90,000 a month in food support. Our community at Penn Alexander has a big opportunity to support each other through this period.
We can't do it all, but we can do a lot - and in combination with food drives across the city, we can help PAS kids and families not go hungry in this crucial moment.
We are excited to have Son Revoltura tomorrow at PAS for two student assemblies. The group will perform Mexican folk music, talk about the history of folk music in Mexico and the Día de Muertos as well as lead the students through some dances.
We will also enjoy sweet bread, known as pan dulce, a traditional and beloved treat in many parts of the Latinx community. It is often enjoyed daily for breakfast or snacks and plays a role in many celebrations, such as the holiday bread pan de muerto for Dia de los Muertos.
Science Fair boards for 4th and 5th grade are available for purchase in the office for $5. cash only.
If you missed last week's Coffee With The Principal, please review the slidedeck, including good news on our academic performance as well as this year's goals..
Sincerely,
Principal Overton
