Message from the Principal

Dear PAS Families,

I am pleased to announce our Spring musical will be Shrek, Jr!  In this letter to families that will also be sent home tomorrow, Ms. Larese and Ms. Zimmer have listed all of the ways in which students can participate.

Today is the last day to prepay for Pretzel Day and Dress Down Day.  Moving forward, students can still participate by bringing in cash on the day of.

Tomorrow at 6pm we are pairing Coffee With The Principal with School Advisory Council (SAC) in the lunchroom.  Childcare including pizza will be provided. If you can't attend in person, please join us on zoom

Thursday's girls volleyball game has been moved to Bache-Martin by the district.  Due to technical difficulties it may still appear in the Week at a Glance below as a home game.

On Friday, October 31, students are invited to come to school as their favorite book character for Character Day

Due to the government shutdown, SNAP benefits will not be paid until the shutdown ends and funds can be released to PA. This means that some families may not have money for groceries in November. Also, if any families include government workers who have been furloughed, please see the resources below.

Here are several food support tools and organizations families can turn to in Greater Philadelphia:

  • Philabundance – the region’s major food bank serving Philadelphia, the suburbs, and South Jersey. Families can use the “Find Food” map on their website to locate local food pantries and distribution sites.

  • Share Food Program – another large hunger‐relief agency. They provide a map of free food distribution sites, community fridges, senior food box delivery and more.

  • City of Philadelphia – with the “Food & Meal Finder” via the city website, families can look up local pantries, emergency food, home delivery, etc.

  • PA 211 – families can dial 211 or visit their website to search statewide for food pantries, delivery meals, formula & baby food, etc.

Sincerely,

Principal Overton

From SAC...

SAC Secretary Needed!

The PAS School Advisory Council (SAC) is looking for a parent representative to serve as SAC Secretary who can commit to attending meetings for the remainder of the '25-'26 school year. This is a great opportunity for a parent who wants to be more involved with the academic and institutional side of PAS.

The role includes taking notes and attendance at monthly SAC meetings and updating two SAC websites. Beyond that, you can bring what you want to SAC: ideas for school improvement, student achievement, and parent & family engagement.

Interested or have questions? Please email current SAC Secretary Liz Wing. More details HERE.
