Message from the Principal

Dear PAS Families:

Welcome back!  We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and hope you had a restful week. 

As many of you know we had 22 students enter the SDP Tech Fair Competition on Friday, March 22.  The students did an amazing job with their projects and presentations at the fair. We had several students place: 

  • 1st Place Web Page Design: Alison Maier and Elizabeth Sung (advance to state!)
  • 1st Place Digital Art: Asher Altman (5GR) and Noah Munoz-Arnold (5GR)
  • 2nd Place Programming: Khalid Esmael (6GR)
  • 2nd Place Graphic Design and Logo: Eli and Anya Munkelwitz (6GR)
  • 3rd Place Animation: Orin Shani (5GR) and Wily Stark-Jordan (5GR) 

Shout to PAS technology teacher, Ms. Gilday, for sponsoring the students and supporting their projects.

PSSA Grades 3-8

Student in grades 3-8 will be participating in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), a state-mandated standardized assessment beginning April 22 through May 10, 2024. Please make sure your child gets to bed early and has breakfast. As always, free breakfast is provided in the cafeteria daily beginning at 8:00 AM.  Students who arrive after 8:30am on a testing day will not be able to test that day. 

PAS Testing Schedule: 

ELA Testing: April 22, 24, and 25  

Math Testing: April 29 and 30

Science Testing (Only 4th and 8th Grade): May 1 and 2

Makeup Testing: May 6 - May 10

Don't Forget!

New SDP COVID policy

1. Student should remain home until their symptoms are not present or have improved and they have no diarrhea, vomiting or fever (without taking fever-reducing medications) for at least 24 hours.

2. Student should wear a well-fitted mask for 5 days after their return to school

3. The 5-day isolation requirement has ended


New Driver and Biker Drop-Off & Pick Up Plan

In our continued effort to improve the drop off and pick up experience for our drivers and the safety of our students, we are launching a new plan for drivers and bikers.  Spruce and Locust Streets are 20 minute stopping zones and provide an entire block of space for drivers that would like to walk with their child.  Please click HERE to learn more.  We will be handing out fliers and sending them home in the pony.

5K Prizes Needed!

The 5K race committee is busy planning for the event, but we still need some prizes, race bag swag, and snack bag contents donated. Can you donate:

HSA Open Board Positions

The HSA needs your help! We have 4 open executive board positions for the upcoming school year:

  • Treasurer
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Fundraising Chair  

Please consider running or nominating someone to make sure that the school continues to operate at the same level in the future. We are also seeking people to serve on the nominating committee to help guide the elections process. More details can be found HERE.
