Dear PAS Families:
Tonight marks the beginning of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Penn Alexander is excited to recognize Ramadan. If you or someone you know would like to share an explanation of Ramadan and its significance to those who observe Ramadan with our community, we are grateful for the experience to learn with you. Click here to sign up and we will be in touch to coordinate with you.
Tomorrow students will receive a gift bag of bottled water, an individually wrapped date, a sweet treat, and an explanation of Ramadan assembled by several PAS families who wanted to share this important time with us.
On Thursday, join us for Pi Day by learning how to support your child's mathematic learning through play at our Math Festival! RSVP HERE. Free optional pizza dinner and to go boxes for famlilies observing Ramadan. Pie bakers and volunteers are needed.
On Friday, we will host our annual Alumni Basketball game afterschool. Click HERE to sign up to play. Concessions will be available for purchase. Come out to support our teams!
SEPTA Spruce Street Track Renewal Project Notification
Spruce Street between 40th and 42nd Streets will be closed from March 18 through May 4 for SEPTA track work. Click HERE to read the SEPTA notification. This project will likely increase congestion around the school, especially at drop-off. Families that drive to school may want to use Locust Street for drop off or allow extra travel time.
New Driver and Biker Drop-Off & Pick Up Plan
In our continued effort to improve the drop off and pick up experience for our drivers and the safety of our students, we are launching a new plan for drivers and bikers. Spruce and Locust Streets are 20 minute stopping zones and provide an entire block of space for drivers that would like to walk with their child. Please click HERE to learn more. We will be handing out fliers and sending them home in the pony.
