Message from the Principal

Greetings, Families:

This week on Wednesday, we have Picture Day for all students and at 5:30pm, please join us for our Community Potluck hosted by Equity Circle. RSVP HERE.

Please come cheer on our girls volleyball team on Thursday at 3:15pm.  The JV & V teams are having an awesome year, and we would love more fans to join them for their matches!

The following week, many of our families will be celebrating Diwali.  We invite families to share their cultural traditions with our community. Sign up here to connect with us.

I wanted to give a special shout for a new event that is free to all students in grades 5-8.  Two UPenn student groups will host Dominos & La Cultura on Tuesday, November 14.  That evening we are also hosting a social media workshop for parents.   See our Upcoming Events section below for sign up information.

Next time you are in Clark Park, please check out the signs in the park that were installed by PAS middle schoolers, educating the public on the importance of urban trees and *how* trees do these amazing things for us.   Click here to see their completed project and learn about the Clark Park trees and all their amazing benefits.

And in case you also have clocks in your home that don't automatically adjust for the end of daylight savings time this morning, be sure to turn your clocks back 1 hour.

Reminders & Resources
Don't Forget!

  • PAS Nurse's office is looking for gently used/hand-me-down clothes for littles. We are in need of leggings, sweatpants, and t-shirts size YS-YXL
  • Monday, November 27 parent-teacher conferences. There is no school for students on November 27 in order for teachers to meet with parents.  This is a district wide change from the three half days for conferences.
  • CVS asked us to remind the community that they will need to start towing cars to ensure that there is room in their parking lot for customers. Do not park at CVS unless you are shopping in the store, or run the risk of being towed.
Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday, the HSA's biggest fundraising appeal of the year, is upon us! Please support your child's public school and donate today. Our goal is to raise $75,000 for the general fund so we can continue to support our full time art program, teacher & staff appreciation, teaching, classroom, and building supplies, and so much more. The grade with the highest family participation for making contributions of any amount will receive an extra recess.

Donate HERE. Thank you!

PAS Community Profile

HSA is kicking off this year's Community Profile by featuring Ms. Luftun Nahar Popy. This initiative features staff and teachers in our community that parents may not have an opportunity to get to know or may have not met or seen on the blacktop but whom the students know very well. Past profiles have included custodial team members and crossing guards. Please click here to learn more about Ms. Lutfun Nahar Popy!
